Getting to grips with statistics in the new A Level Maths

Who is this course for?

This course is appropriate for any teacher who will be teaching the new AS and A level Mathematics qualifications.  It introduces the main statistics topics and the changes in the approach to these topics from legacy S1 modules. Opportunities for embedding technology into your statistics teaching and using large data sets are highlighted throughout.

What are the objectives or outcomes?

  • To introduce the main statistics topic in the new A level Mathematics specifications.
  • To show how technology can be used to illustrate statistical ideas and improve students’ understanding.
  • To demonstrate effective ways of teaching statistics, including using a large data set.

This course is being provided by Mathematics Education Innovation and sponsored by Casio.
