PRE Teacher Network

The network is a chance for teachers of Religious Studies to get together to discuss current issues and changes in Secondary Religious Studies curriculum. The group will meet termly in twilight sessions in schools across the ATSA network.

Teachers of Religious Studies

What are the objectives or outcomes?

On this programme participants will:
  • Discuss changes to the R.S. curriculum
  • Discuss the challenges facing teachers of Religious Studies
  • To share best practice.

Practical Information

This course is hosted at Sandringham School in St Albans and Sir John Lawes School in Harpenden.
Twilight sessions run from 4.00pm to 5.30pm on:
• Wednesday 6th December 2017
• Tuesday 27th February 2018
• Wednesday 6th June 2018

Meet the facilitators

J Jones

Joanna Hughes

Joanna is currently the Head of Philosophy, Religion and Ethics at Sandringham School. Jo has been the Head of Department at Sandringham School for three years. She has lead CPD and INSETs on the use of Blended Learning and has been a Professional Lead Teacher developing Teaching and Learning for the past year. Jo has also completed outreach work as a Subject Leader in Education for the past two year. Her experience as an examiner for the past 4 years means she has created multiple resources for the new GCSE and A Level specifications.
Maria Santos-Richmond
Maria is Assistant Head Teacher at Sir John Lawes School and SLE coordinator for the Alban Teaching School Alliance. Maria’s fundamental belief is that if schools invest wisely in their staff they are investing in the future of all their students. Providing opportunities to develop as professionals through networking and collaborative learning are powerful tools Maria values highly. She is a member of the HertsCam tutor team and a National College accredited outstanding facilitator.
