Athletics: Sprints and Hurdles Course 2020-21

Next Session: July 14, 2021 | 4:00pm - 6:00pm

This session will take place from 4pm to 6pm on Wednesday, 14th July 2021 at Jarman Park Athletics Track, Hemel Hempstead, HP2 4JS.   There will be a maximum of 16 delegates which will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

SPRINTING & HURDLING – This session will focus on the techniques of sprinting and hurdling including:

  • Warm-up
  • Sprinting drills which emphasise and develop sprinting technique
  • Use of equipment to develop sprinting technique
  • Sprint starts.
  • Development of hurdling technique, approach to first hurdle, development of 3 stride pattern.

Meet the trainer

Deborah Keenleyside

Deborah is head coach at Dacorum and Tring AC.  She is actively involved in Herts Schools Athletics as organiser of Schools League & County Schools Champs.

Previous Experience

Member of the National Hurdles Squad (1979-1982) and competed for Great Britain over 400m Hurdles (1981).

Represented GB at World and European Masters Champs 100mH & TJ (1995-1997)

Represented British Universities at Netball (1976-9)


The host site will provide a sanitised environment and will adhere to social distancing requirements.   Any delegate who has had a positive lateral flow device test (LFD) or PCR test or is displaying coronavirus symptoms or is living with someone who has either tested positive or is  displaying coronavirus symptoms must not attend a face to face training session.  Please see the NHS website guidelines for further information if you are unclear of your responsibilities.  Should any delegate attending a session show symptoms or test positive for Coronavirus within a 14 day period following that session please notify  immediately and the Alban Teaching School Hub will liaise with the host school and other delegates.
