Planning and delivering inspiring assemblies

This course will provide an opportunity to consider a range of strategies for capturing the attention and imagination of your students with inspiring assemblies.  We will look at how to plan the time, where to seek resources and how to confidently deliver your message.

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable to anyone who regularly delivers to assemblies to large groups of students.  Whether you are a Head of Year, a member of a Senior Leadership Team or someone who just has something they want to share with a wider audience, this session will provide useful guidance.

What are the intended outcomes of the session?

In this workshop participants will:

  • Consider what constitutes an engaging assembly.
  • Discuss and explore strategies for planning your assembly.
  • Share experiences, ideas and resources for engaging assemblies.
  • Consider strategies to aid confident delivery.

Meet the facilitator

Rich Davis is currently KS4 Maths Coordinator, Year 8 form tutor and Head of House at Sandringham School.  Over the last 12 years he has fulfilled a number of roles, including 5 years as a Head of Year and 2 years as an Assistant Headteacher.

Whatever his role, Rich has never been far away from an assembly rota and relishes the opportunity to leave his mark on an audience.  He has delivered assemblies of all types to a range of year groups, on a range of topics and in a range of styles and thrives on developing new ideas for engaging assemblies.
