Meet the facilitator
Phil Newbery – Deputy Headteacher, Sir John Lawes School
Phil has been a deputy head for five years in two separate and contrasting schools. He relishes the different challenges that deputy headship brings and has learnt many valuable lessons along the way.
Phil has experienced two OFSTED inspections, two HMI visits and has taken part in two application and interview processes, fortunately being successful in both.
He has been part of a leadership team that lead a school from ‘Special Measures’ to ‘Good’ and now works in an ‘Outstanding’ School. He believes that this gives him a variety of experience to be able to pass some of this knowledge on.
