I have been a school governor since 1999. In that time, I have served on the governing boards of three secondary schools (been Chair of Governors in two of them) at different stages of their development, one outstanding and two requiring improvement.
I have extensive experience of school governance having been a member of and chaired different committees, Headteacher performance panels, Headteacher appointment panels and various link governor roles. I became a National Leader of Governance in 2012. In that role I have been working with chairs of governors of both primary and secondary schools in Hertfordshire and beyond to improve the effectiveness of their governing boards. This work has included conducting external reviews of governance, attending governing board meetings and acting as mentor to the chair.
